my approach

Each individual or family is uniquely different and responsive in their own way.  This is why my approach is integrative, borrowing from a variety of different methods and techniques.  For some, our therapeutic path is an opportunity to share and engage in a verbal process which allows them to find clarity, growth, and healing.  Others may have difficulty with traditional talk therapy.  In this case, the expressive therapies add to the avenues one may use to externalize those feelings.  Using movement, art, writing, music, or other techniques allows for as many outlets necessary to further therapeutic growth.  I take a systems and strengths-based approach, and will work with the you to find the most effective path for treatment.

WHY PLAY THERAPY?

Play is a natural language for children.  For many years, research has supported the idea that guided play therapy is beneficial for children who are experiencing a wide variety of issues.  Play therapy builds on the natural way that children learn about themselves, their relationships, and the world around them.  When used in a therapeutic environment, play therapy allows for a child to explore and make sense of their feelings or worries in a safe environment.  In the context of the family, play therapy can be a powerful tool to strengthen bonds and revive relationships.
